Learning Outcomes

Understand and learn the various data structures to make computer programming more efficient. The good design of data structures and algorithms enables efficient execution of programs, but also optimal management of computing resources such as CPU and/or memory.

Indicative Module Content

• Estimating a program’s performance (an introduction)
• Data file management (text files, binary, indexed)
• Arrays:
  • sorting algorithms (bubble, selection, insertion, merge quick),
  • searching algorithms (sequential search, binary, Fibonacci)
• Data Structures: Stack, Queue, List, Trees, Graphs
• Priority queues
