Learning Outcomes
This course focuses on the design of digital systems for addressing environmental challenges. Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:
- identify an environmental problem,
- collect the required data from individual sensors, networks, and online sources,
- organize and analyze environmental data,
- design integrated digital information services.
Indicative Module Content
The course covers the following topics:
- Environmental informatics processes
- measurement, collection, storage, processing, visualization, interpretation, modeling, dissemination
- Digital twins
- Digital information services
- Application examples
A substantial part of the course is devoted to a group project that makes use of documentation, collaboration, and workflow automation tools, such as Markdown, GitHub, and Makefiles.
