SCSE 2021
Soft Computing in Software Engineering
Special Session organized within
the 25th Panhellenic Conference on Informatics (PCI 2021)
November 26th to 28th, 2021 – Volos, Greece
(paper submission deadline update)
Special Session Organizer and Chair:
Vassilis C. Gerogiannis, Dept. of Digital Systems, University of Thessaly, Greece
PCI 2021 will be a hybrid conference. The ability to present a paper and/or attend the conference both physically and remotely will be provided. In case on-site presence is not allowed by the State for epidemiological reasons, the conference will be only held online.
Call for Papers
The field of Software Engineering is evolving rapidly, influenced by growing complexities, changing market conditions, technology advancements, and increasing software development challenges. The need to improve software development efficiency/effectiveness and address complex problems is present and probably most timely than ever. Soft Computing is a collection of computational techniques in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence whose role model is the human mind and its guiding principle is to exploit tolerance for imprecision, uncertainty, partial truth, and approximation aiming to achieve tractability, robustness, and low-cost solutions. The fundamental idea of Soft Computing is to emulate human-like reasoning, which seems a natural fit with Software Engineering, which is a human-based development activity. Soft Computing techniques include fuzzy sets and systems, probabilistic reasoning, support vector machines, belief networks, artificial neural networks, fuzzy cognitive maps as well as evolutionary computation based on genetic algorithms, swarm intelligence methods, and other nature-inspired computation paradigms. The aim of the special session on Soft Computing in Software Engineering (SCSE) in PCI 2021 is to highlight and demonstrate the utility of various Soft Computing methodologies on various software engineering problems.
Potential methods of Soft Computing related with the SCSE Special Session include (but not limited to):
