Ilias Savvas, Professor of the Digital Systems Department (University of Thessaly) and Dean of the School of Technology, leading a local student team and in collaboration with the opensource ecosystem of Quantum Computing QWorld, participated in the Entangling Online Event QBronze53 “Quantum Computing and Programming” (20-21 & 27-28 of February 2021). During the event and in the weeks that followed, the Greek Quantum Computing – QGreece ecosystem was officially established.
The aim of QGreece is the creation of an open ecosystem for quantum software technologies and algorithms so that anyone interested can easily be a part of it.
Quantum computers take advantage of phenomena and properties of quantum mechanics such as superposition and quantum entanglement and achieve calculations many orders of magnitude larger than conventional PC architectures. Such systems are expected to contribute substantially in areas such as pharmacology, medicine, etc.
