The Digital Systems Department evaluated with EXCELLENT
The Digital Systems Department of the University of Thessaly (https://ds.uth.gr/) is pleased to announce the successful completion of the evaluation and accreditation processes of its academic Undergraduate Program of Studies, which has been offered since 2019.
The evaluation/accreditation process was carried out by an External Evaluation and Accreditation Committee appointed by the Hellenic Authority for Higher Education – HAHE (https://www.ethaae.gr/en). The committee consisted of three distinguished foreign university professors, from universities in the USA and the United Kingdom, as well as one undergraduate student from another university institution in Greece.
The department’s Undergraduate Program of Studies, as well as all of the department’s structures and processes, were thoroughly examined by the external evaluation committee according to twelve (12) quality criteria which have been defined by the HAHE. Based on a four-level evaluation scale (in descending order: “fully compliant”, “substantially compliant”, “partially compliant”, and “non-compliant”), the Department of Digital Systems was finally evaluated as:
- “fully compliant” in 9 of the 12 quality criteria, and
- “substantially compliant” in the remaining 3 quality criteria.
The External Evaluation and Accreditation process ultimately led to the highest overall evaluation level (at the “fully compliant” status), ratified by decision 32804/14-2-2023 of the President and the Evaluation and Certification Council of HAHE.
In particular, the final decision of the HAHE Evaluation and Accreditation Council certifies that “the Undergraduate Program of Studies of the Department of Digital Systems of the University of Thessaly fully complies with the Principles of the HAHE Quality Standard and the Principles of Quality Assurance of the European Higher Education Area (ESG 2015) for study level 6 of the National and European Qualifications Framework”. Consequently, it was decided by the HAHE “to grant Accreditation for the Undergraduate Program of Studies of the Department of Digital Systems of the University of Thessaly, with a validity period of five (5) years, from 16-Dec-2022 to 15-Dec-2027“.
This excellent performance is the result of the systematic work and collective effort that have been taking place continuously since 2019, the year the Department of Digital Systems started its operation at the University of Thessaly. The outcomes of the certification justify the collective efforts made both during the preparation of the Certification Proposal submitted for review to HAHE and during the External Certification and Accreditation process. Τhis excellent evaluation is mainly a result of a lot of hard work and the creative, extremely positive, and collegial atmosphere that prevails in the Digital Systems Department.
The Digital Systems Department would like to thank the Administration and Rectoral Authorities of the University of Thessaly, the Administration, Members, and Executives of the Quality Assurance Unit (MODIP) of the University of Thessaly, who contributed to the preparation of the Certification Proposal submitted to HAHE, as well as all those who participated in the Certification procedures. We would like to particularly express our gratitude to our students for their decisive contribution, as well as we would like to thank the social partners/stakeholders who participated in the meetings with the members of the External Evaluation and Accreditation Committee.
