Infrastructure

The University of Thessaly has a large campus in Larissa (Gaiopolis complex) located at the western end of the city, next to the Larissa-Trikala ring road. The Digital Systems Department is based in one of the three new building complexes, in modern and fully equipped facilities.

The Gaiopolis campus includes a branch of the Rector’s office, the School of Technology departments, and the Larissa- based departments of the School of Agricultural Sciences and the Economics and Administrative Sciences. The complex has ceremonial amphitheaters, a modern library, an organized conference center, and a student restaurant. Within the campus, there is a students’ residence hall complex. At the students’ disposal, there are rich sports facilities that include an indoor gym with stands, muscle-strengthening instruments, a doctor’s office, dance, and martial arts halls, as well as outdoor football, volleyball, and basketball courts. An extensive upgrade is planned for the sports facilities by the local Region Administration of Thessaly.

Although you have probably heard about the unbearable heat of Larissa in summer, the campus is beautiful and functional all year round and the following pictures give you a taste:
